Unhappy internet explorer shutdown

I'm having similar problems. when limeware's running iexplore.exe has problems and shuts downk. checked faq, no mention of this. is there a fix? lw's a super program, but it's a drag not to be able to do anything else while it's running. does limeware pro, which i've just ordered, correct this?

That is possible, - there have been reports of LimeWire's ad engine CyDoor having problems with the Internet Explorer.

Cydoor is an adware/spyware component that is used to download and display ads within the free version of LimeWire. It's got a few problems getting along with Internet Explorer.

Cydoor itself has no problems with Internet/Windows Explorer, but throw in McAfee VirusScan, and you got yourself a bugfest. This will happen with KaZaA too, its not LimeWire specific. So, like I've previously stated a few times...

-------------------------------------------------------------

There are four ways around this.

1. Delete Cydoor at
Windows\System\cd_clint.dll (Win 9x/ME)
Winnt\System32\cd_clint.dll (Win2K/NT)
Windows\System32\cd_clint.dll (WinXP)
or with Ad-Aware (www.lavasoftusa.com)

2. Replace cd_clint.dll with a dummy file; a benign dll which tells the host application that all is well, but nothing more and displays no ads (Useful to maintain the ability to use KaZaA, but not necessary for the recent versions of LimeWire) available at www.cexx.org/cd_clint.zip extract to said directories above.

3. Disable the WebScan module in McAfee VirusScan. It's not too useful, but is still nice to have kickin around.

4. Buy LimeWire Pro.

-------------------------------------------------------------

This'll fix the IE crashing, but as for the little freezes (like when searching for a popular file and getting hundreds of results), blame it on Java. The JRE 1.4 is faster, but still has room for improvement.

Hope this helps,

-Dividend

Post remove ad-ware/spy-ware

I don't know if LimeWire installed it, but I use a nifty program called ad-aware. It's available from cnet.com. I ran it after installing LimeWirePro and it found one component. I am not really sure if it installed it, but I had just restored my computer so the list of possible offending programs is small.
