![]() After installing LimeWire 8.0, which itself did not work on my Windows 2000 PC, my McAfee VirusScan no longer worked! I uninstalled LimeWire from the Control Panel and reinstalled McAfee. My McAfee still does not work! It worked fine before. Here is the message I see in the Event Viewer: "The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( AVSynMgr ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: AVSynMgr error: 126, VirusScan has been stopped due to a missing or outdated Avsynch.dll library. Please reinstall the product.." As I said before, I did as the message suggested and reinstalled VirusScan, but still get the same error message. Apparently LimeWire 8.0 did something to my system which the uninstall did not clean up. How do I completely remove/undo all the changes LimeWire 8.0 made to my system? As you know, Virus protection is extremely important these days, so I would appreciate a quick and thorough response. Aaron Sentell Info about VirusScan: VirusScan Build 5.12 Avsynch.dll is version 4.5.499 Avsynch.dll Build Date is 3/29/2000 |
