Default .jpi_cache... HELP PLEASE! PC freeze!

Hello,
I really don't know what is going on..
I had Limewire and Bearshare installed on my pc (win ME) and both worked. I decided to stick with Gnucleus so uninstalled these other two programmes. Here is the problem;
I installed mcaffee virus scan and it froze my computer at the file
C:\windows\.jpi_cache\jar\1.0
I tried and retried to run the scan but every time I had to reboot because not even ctrl+alt+del would get me out. That meant going through all the rubbish of scanning hard drives.
Next I used 'search' to find files and 'search' froze the pc at this file/s
I then went into Explorer to try and have a look at what was going on. It appeared that there was advertising stuff in this folder but then I tried to open the file 1.0 and my pc froze again.
NEXT! I thought "What have I installed recently that had advertising?" aah! bloody Limewire and Bearshare. Solution=shove this junk in the recycle bin and see what happens! I thought it was stuff left over after the programmes were deleted.
Whack! When I tried to delete the folder '.jpi_cache' it froze on me.

Does anyone know what is going on and how I can get this stuff tidied up?

Thanks.. Rick

That file/folder has something to do with java. LimeWire uses java, BearShare doesn't. Maybe those folks at LimeWire's forums can help you.

This sounds like a corrupt file. How old is your hard drive? This always happens to me with wasted floppies.

MS-DOS seems to be a little more friendly with bad files (when in pure mode, not in a window), but really unfriendly to the user. The commmand for delete is "del folder\file.ext" where the files and folders are no more than 8 letters a piece, and the extension is only 3 letters long. There is always a space between commands and directories.

You could also try reinstalling java from http://java.sun.com, that might overwrite the bad file, but is a lot simpler than learning MS-DOS.

Ad-Aware will kill the ads.

Cheers!

In my experience, Windows ME has been a fairly big pain. Here are some simple suggestions. First uninstall JAVA from the control panel and reboot. If that doesn't get the job done try booting up ME in safe mode and erasing the file. If you're lucky, that might do the trick.
