![]() For the second time now, something has caused the erasure of ALL the filenames in my Search/Downloads window, which is an absolute pain because it means having to search for all of them again (and I'm talking hundreds here). The first time it happened my entire computer crashed, so I thought that was the reason - but this time everything was shut down properly. What's happening? Is there something I can do to avoid it, or can someone at least please tell me what file holds the search/downloads filenames, so that I can copy-paste it for next time? I'm also having a problem with Java 1.3.1_03 - my Windows ME system information says it's damaged - yet I redownloaded and reinstalled Limewire completely and it's still listed as damaged. I've downloaded and installed Java 1.4.1 but 1.3.1 is still there - I'm assuming LW still needs this 1.3.1 file to be able to work? My video drivers are up to date. |

![]() LimeWire doesn't need Java 1.3.1. You will need to install Java2 1.4.0_1 (the latest release candidate) or Java2 1.4.0 without LimeWire running - and preferably install LimeWire after installing the new Java. LimeWire 2.5.5 is pretty good at not losing the download list - but it can do so if you open and close it too rapidly (sometimes). The main file that stores download information is download.dat in the incomplete folder. You may be able to back this up - but LimeWire may get distinctly upset when the contents of the incomplete folder don't match the download.dat file - your risk. Mark |

![]() Dear Mark, Thankyou for your help, I've deleted Java 1.3.1 off my computer - it was left there after downloading a newer version of Limewire and Java 1.4.0 and I didn't know that I could delete it - so that has solved that problem. I'll be backing up both the 'full' download.dat file, and the 'empty' one that replaces it after a crash before trying the cut/paste thing.. but I'll also be shutting down Limewire more carefully in the future. Cheers. ![]() |
