javaw

Everytime I shutdown limewire I get a JAVAW err. Message if this continally happens try restarting your computer this is becoming a pain. What can I do to fix the problem.

A few people have reported this problem - but there is currently insufficient information to know what the cause of the problem is (and therefore how to fix it).

It seems primarily to be a Windows98/ME problem. I'm not sure yet if the version of Java makes a difference.

The best I can suggest is that you try fiddling and see if anything makes a difference.

It may, or may not, be worth installing/re-installing a latest version of Java - look on the LimeWire website download section for a link.

If you have an old version of Windows (95/98/Me) try to keep your number of connections/uploads/downloads down. I think there is an issue with using too many network connections.

If yes, I'd recommend upgrading your OS at some point.

I noticed this problem disapeared after a clean install of Windows ME and Java 1.4.0.

Hello, jumping in on this thread because I am having the same problem when closing the software, but I'm also having a problem with it crashing constantly with the same error. Does anyone know if this is an issue with the ad supported version of this software only? I was guessing it might have something to do with the ads and Java?

Hello:

I can tell you I had Java issues on the Pro version (2.6.3) but uninstalling and reinstalling Java fixed the issue.

Norm... Do you know what version of Java you used? Also what OS are you using? I uninstalled Java using control panel and installed newest version of Java from Sun's web site on a Win98SE machine... still having problems.

Thanks!

I am running XP Pro with an AMD Athalon. I had the same problem you do. When I uninstalled Java and then started Limewire it prompted me to install Java and provided a link that was rerouted but ended up downloading Java 1.3.1_04.

Good Luck

Norm
