Locks up with Win2000Pro I'm running Windows 2000 Pro and was using Limewire fairly fine up until 2.7.13 (basic)... since upgrading to that version, the program just freezes up my machine *before* it even finishes loading. I get the main window, and then the smaller window with the "Upgrade to Limewire Pro" title, but that window doesn't ever finish loading... no buttons appear, no text appears, and then the machine locks up. Can't even get Task Manager to appear at that point because CPU usage is hard locked at 100%... I've tried to "wait it out", but even after 20 minutes it's still frozed... I've installed the most recent version of Java from Sun and that didn't help... I tried installing the beta version of Limewire 2.8 but had the same problem.... Previously, the 100% cpu usage problem was solved by using Task Manager to set Java on low priority but now I can't even get to the Task Manager. Anyone else having this problem? Help!? |
I'm experiencing same problem. Win2000 running 2.7.13. Followed most of the chain from 2.7.3PRO through 2.7.13PRO. Tried 2.8.0 BETA PRO and it worked great for one night. |
Possibly fixed! win2000 Pro running Lime 2.7.13 and then 2.8.0 Had issue with connecting and freezing. What seemed to work: - Removed all installations of Limewire - Removed my old version of JRE (had been j2re1.4.0_01) - Installed new Limewire beta 2.8.0 - Installed new JRE (j2re1.4.0_03) Launches fine, connects OK, download and resume seem to work. Though running as Ultrapeer seems a bit squirrelly - lots of connection activity and not much in the way of search success. Prompted me to disable Ultrapeer. Hope this helps y'all! |
