Unhappy error 1714

HELP!!
Was trying to upgrade to the newest version of limewire and it would not let me, stating error 1714. I cannot even uninstall the old! I operate on win 98. Please give me any assistance possible.

This is not really a complete answer but a possible clue...

Error 1714 is a Windows installer (MSI) error, just maybe installing the latest version of the MSI might help.

Maybe a registry entry has got screwed, you could at your own risk seach the registry for any Limewire entries and remove them, as well as deleting the install folder in the "Program Files" directory, then reboot and try to reinstall a fresh copy...

Suggested place in the registry is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LimeWire
