core component stall

Hello.
I am running win98 with 512ram and plenty of space on the hard drive.

The problem is that when I try to run limewire it stalls out on the splash screen when it says loading core components. Sometimes it'll spontaniously run after I've gone through the whole thing a few times, but I'd like consistancy here.

any ideas??

thanks

I hate to add to the bashing of Limewire because it does offer one of the best gnutella network interfaces and It works flawlessly under Linux, but in windows I have had many problems like those descriped here. I believe it is mostly the windows implmentation of Java for Windows But I was hoping that something could be done to compensate for it. The big problem I find to have constently is that the javaw.exe (I believe is the VM server) takes up 100% of my P3 500mhz processor on Windows 2000 Adv Server and uses 90MB of RAM after a few hours of running. It works really well at the initial start but after that it just starts going down hill. I have tried both 1.3 and 1.4 of J2SE. Both do the same thing. Please let me know if I can help in resolving these issue (if you need more info etc...)

Limewire is a great program with a great interface and powerful features. And for the price you can't beat what you get from it.

Thanks,

Jamin Roth

Which LimeWire and Java versions? I've seen that problem, too - a while ago, but it went away at some point. I could only guess what caused it.
