Win 98 LimeWire no-go

LimeWire used to run o.k. on my Win98 system. I'm not sure what happened, but now I am unable to launch it. Nothing seems to happen when I click on LimeWire icon. I tried to uninstall it by going to Add/Remove programs, but that would not remove Limewire. Finally I ended up deleting folder and removing registry entries.
Then I tried reinstalling latest 1.4 version freshly downloaded. Installer starts, Install Anywhere progress bar goes to 100% and then window disappears and nothing else happens. Temporary files are left in my TEMP directory.

What's going on? Any suggestions?

What's up w/ LW????
I removed from Add/Remove,then tried to DL 2 or 3 more times!
The icon is on my desktop, it shows up in control/alt/delete as if the application is running, but it's surely invisable to me! I am half wondering if it's my ISP or Limewire that has a bug.
Anyone with a solution .Please help, tried LW support address, to no avail, I received a generic auto-responder :o(
~Peace~
