Default Just a hypothesis...

I'm going to posit that there's a problem accepting incoming connections on Win98 systems. I need help testing this hypothesis.

ScrappyDoo and others with the Win98 crash problem: try "firewalling" yourself by forcing your IP to 0.0.0.0 from the Advanced options menu. Let me know if you still get crashes. Note that setting your port won't prevent people from connecting to you, but it does prevent LW from giving out your address during host discovery. You may want to change your port too, in case some clients out there are caching your address from a previous run.

Angry disappearing limewire.....

Lime wire program shuts down after connecting. Problem is quite sporadic. Sometimes it will shut down a few minutes after connecting or even a few hours after connecting. Sometimes it will be just fine and won't shut down at all. No warning or dialog box appears - it just disappears and I have to restart the program. Is this a known bug or just an incompatibility/conflict problem with my system? I'm using Limewire version 1.6b, Windows Me and AOL 6.0; sharing approx. 800 files; using a 56k dial up modem. From the looks of it, it seems there are quite a few users having the same problems. Is there a fix???

Default new.net again?

new.net, a program bundled with BearShare and other programs, used to cause LimeWire to crash. We thought that new.net had fixed that problem, however. Can you see if you have new.net installed? Check the Add/Remove section of Control Panel. Also, look for newdotnet*.dll in your Windows directory. If you find it, try removing it and see what happens.

I deleted the 2 files that showed up during a search for newdotnet*.dll, and now Limewire has stopped disappearing from my screen! YAY!!!! I just thought you should know that it worked.
