I am having a similar problem but not quite as extreme.I receive the illegal operation message very frequently when trying to open image and video files after they seem to successfully download.Thank god it is not to the extreme of constantly getting booted-I think I would have been frustrated to the point of removing the program by now.The bad news is I have posted twice asking for help and have received zero replies. The program is still very useful for audio files which I have no problem with.I also had alot of problems downloading limewire. As many I was looking for an alternitive to Napster.I was persistant and after several days and many attempts I was successful.I think in concept Limewire is a excellent site, but after reviewing all the posts it is obvious it has many problems and bugs that are going unanswered.I know I have been of no help but you are not alone. There are strength in numbers, maybe when they realize the number of people having a similar problem and that it is not an isolated case someone will be able to give us an answer. Until then-Good luck!!! |

illegal operation too I'm not sure what is going on either. I have been using Limewire for about 2 months and everything was going fine until these last couple of days. All of a sudden I'm getting 'Limewire has caused an illegal operation in 'unknown'... if this persists try restarting your computer... I also have Windows ME and a cable modem. I can't keep a connection for more than 5 min. Can anyone shed some light? |

Wow, you guys dug down deep for that "Illegal operation". You may want to try clicking on that "details" button in the future - especially if you want any help. You might as well have been saying "I get an error". Very very vague, and really of no value to anyone trying to help you with your problem. Well, I have an "illegal operation" as well. Here it is. LIMEWIRE caused an invalid page fault in module NEWDOTNET2_109.DLL at 016f:0337f395. Registers: EAX=0337f36f CS=016f EIP=0337f395 EFLGS=00010206 EBX=00802830 SS=0177 ESP=054efa5c EBP=008014ac ECX=0399f028 DS=0177 ESI=00000000 FS=48e7 EDX=008014a0 ES=0177 EDI=029b94dc GS=3fce Bytes at CS:EIP: 8b 01 ff 74 24 08 ff 50 1c 8b 0d 0c 6e 38 03 8b Stack dump: 00802830 76003481 054efa6c 008014a0 00802830 7600265e 00000000 008014a0 00801440 0080144c 76003283 00801440 7600e420 054efab4 00000000 7600a1fc |

illegal operation I got the same thing. I use Limewire since the Napster thing and everything was OK. But I always got an 'illegal operation' during exiting the program. The last few days I get the following 'illegal operation' after just 20 seconds online, while the hosts are still trying to connect: LIMEWIRE executed an invalid instruction in module <unknown> at 0000:00000075. Registers: EAX=00000074 CS=017f EIP=00000075 EFLGS=00010206 EBX=00002778 SS=0187 ESP=05e4f8f8 EBP=05e4fbb0 ECX=05e4f904 DS=0187 ESI=0087adb1 FS=67bf EDX=816b5a48 ES=0187 EDI=05e4fbad GS=686e Bytes at CS:EIP: f0 00 f0 22 05 00 00 44 25 00 c0 a8 0f c9 00 45 Stack dump: 76003481 05e4f904 0087adb0 0087adb0 76002881 00807440 02a43c78 0080744c 76002d66 02a43c78 05e4fbac 010aaf70 75fe121a 00002736 00000000 00000000 Any ideas? |
