Default New Version Problems

Hi all
after getting information on my Limewire Pro that
a newer version was available I downloaded it and
installed it on the older version.
Now after I finish using it and want to log off and shut my computer off I find that I cannot disconnect my modem and after have to Alt Control Delete the programes, XP says it is saving my
settings but it never finishes the task.
I am having to switch the computer off via my "Surge Master" to get it to shut down.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is, I know that
it is the fault of the latest Limewire because if I just switch on
my computer and use it without opening up Limewire and use the net and then disconnect and shut it down I have no problems at all.
Thanks in advance.
Peace
Andrew.
