![]() Have been using LimeWire for a few years, and never had any troubles. Recently upgraded to 3.8.5 Here are the problems I'm having for the first time on my Windows 2000 system: 1. The files I am sharing don't show up in searches. Ever. Previously I would see my own files when I made a search. As I use LimeWire to give, as much as to get, it is important to me that my shares are going out. I have my share folder set correctly and the library windows shows hits on these files, but when I searched from another PC for the files I was sharing, I didn't see them there either. 2. LimeWire doesn't start on system startup any more, and I have tried several times the likely fix of deselecting the autostart box, clicking apply, and then reselecting the autostart box and re-applying. Um. No dice. 3. This led me to try uninstalling the program, deleting the program folder, and re-installing. Still no luck. However I noticed that despite the fact that I deleted the program folder after uninstall, the new install still preserved my old settings, leading me to assume they are stored in the registry or somewhere else. Any insights into these issues would be appreciated. Best Sharing, Plutonis |

![]() LimeWire does some intelligent guessing before returning results for files. If it thinks that the other side isn't going to be able to upload anything (which is the case if both sides are firewalled) then it won't return any results. It also doesn't return any results if the uploads are keeping the client busy (because anyone trying to download at that point in time would just get a busy response). In order to effectively test, you need to make sure that both machines can accept incoming connections. Regarding the startup issues -- are you using the Windows (English) installer? Configuration files are stored under C:\Documents And Settings\<your username>\.limewire . This means that you can install one version of LimeWire on the machine, but multiple people can have different configurations. It also means that after uninstalling, the config files will remain (which is the way most programs nowadays work). You can safely delete this directory and LimeWire will revert to the 'factory defaults'. We're considering adding a button that will automatically restore all settings to their defaults. |
