Default Launch only Ultrapeer mode in System Tray

I use LW 405 Pro, on XP Home with 2 user accounts. I've noticed that LW remembers it's configuration seperately between users, and although the other user on the PC (my mom) doesn't use LW at all, I'm trying to get LW to run only in Ultrapeer mode. As invisibly as possible. I've set connection to auto, Ultrapeer on, the download limit to 0, and the upload slots to 0, so as to minimize the effect on bandwidth & CPU, set LW in startup, and the shortcut properties are set to Launch Minimized, but it still starts as usual with the splash screen first, then the main window.
Optimally, I'd like to eliminate the splash screen entirely, but I can live w/ it there for a sec, but mom's not gonna stand for having to close the window each time she logs on. As for the system tray icon, I can hide that via Windows. How can I get LW to launch into the System Tray?
I'm also wondering if there's a way to launch LW on my side of Windows when she logs onto her side, so it's invisible to her side. But then I guess if she restarts, there's a problem. It's probably impossible, anyway.

ElllisD,

In Limewire go to TOOLS, OPTIONS, ADVANCED, SYSTEM STARTUP, and uncheck "Run On System Startup.

Add Limewire to your startup menu.

Highlight Limewire in your startup menu, right click and select properties. Select the shortcut tab. From the drop down menu beside "Run" select "minimized".

Limewire should now run minimized on startup.

ElllisD,

Hmmm,

I can't explain it. Mine works O.K. Your first post said your connection was set to auto. I assume you meant in Limewire. Did you turn that off?

No, but that would also defeat the purpose... It should be working as far as I can tell. I wonder since yours works if it's a Windows thing on my machine now. God, I hate Windows.

ElllisD,

I turned off the auto connect in Limewire and placed a shortcut to Limewire in my startup folder then set the startup options to minimize it.

If Limewire starts it the window stays open. Your start up folder lets you chose to minimize it.

Well, I just installed LW 4.0.6, and during the install I checked the run at startup box in the installer. Then afterwards I deleted the startup shortcut, and now it's working like I want it to.

Default she might notice

She might just notice when limewire kicks in to UP mode, it takes HUGE burdens on your computer and usually makes it lag like mad...so I don't think this whole thing will work very well.

Fungi: what is your compu specs? I'm always UP on my iMac g3 450mhz and it uses 15% of processor, so no problems. Are you under 256 mg ram?

Ciao

It's a PIII 700 w/ 256 RAM & a cable modem. As long as the compression's off both ways, I don't notice it. However, I guess I haven't waited for the connections to get beyond 6 Ultrapeers. I have the locale preferences set to 9999, and I do notice a slight slowdown when it's re-connecting.
