![]() Dear Limewire People I just have two unrelated comments: I have found that Limewire 4.0.7, on occasion, freezes as if it has just crashed but after a minute or two (or even three) it starts working again. This did not happen with versions 4.0.5 or 4.0.6, however this "freezing" does not detract too much from the enjoyment I get from the use of this product. I have just come across this in Zdnet: LimeWire SpeedUp 4.0. My question is, has anyone in the Limewire community used this product and/or have any experience of it, if so, does it actually help optimise uploads and downloads? This is the publisher’s description: Search faster for all kinds of files on the Gnutella network. LimeWire SpeedUp optimizes and enhances the search process when using any Gnutella-compliant application, such as LimeWire. This software enhances the sharing, searching, and downloading of files by optimizing the search for MP3s, movies, pictures, games, and text documents. No Spyware. UK Bob |

![]() LimeWire Speedup is produced by a scamming company that wants to install their spyware|adware|malware on your computer. There is very little an outside program can do to speedup LimeWire. As for 4.0.7, I suggest you try using LimeWire 4.1.1, the latest beta. |

![]() ukbobboy01 The "Limewire Speedup" is offered on several sites. (ZD Net among them) If you click the link you are offered options to porn sites. I can imagine if you ever downloaded it you would be full of spyware / pop ups / etc. Stay away from these "scams". Norm |

![]() sberlin & Norm Thanks for your advice, LimeWire SpeedUp 4.0 is just another one of those scamwares that puts out a description or advert that is too good to be true. I guess than any successful product is going to attract scam and rip-off artists (aka parasites) trying to catch a ride by finding gullible people who are willing to part with their hard earned cash. I reckon as LimeWire becomes ever more popular you will find these parasites multiplying, always on the look out for an angle where they can make a fast unearned buck. UK Bob |
