Default Error "Driver components mis-match. Exit is the only option."

After installing the new windows update for service pack 2 on windows xp professional I receive an error when I try to open the limewire application.

The error message is:
"Driver components mis-match. Exit is the only option."

The message asks to click "ok" but then nothing happens and limewire will not start.

I have tried to re-install limewire to no effect.

I have tried to use exceptions in the Firewall Manager to no effect.

Operation system: windows xp professional service pack 2
Limewire Verison: 4.0.8

Please help?

Default please expand....

Thanks for the prompt and thorough reply.

This must be the problem as I have tried to open the Java Console using
"Start>Settings>Control Panel>Java Plug-in1.3.1_04 "
and I get the same error message.

How do I uninstall java component?
How do I re-install it?
What does "to go to j2re-1_4_2_01" mean? (or should I deal with it when I get to it?)

Please excuse my ignorance

Default no.

There is no entry in add/remove programs for Java Plugin. Do you mean uninstall Limewire? I've tried that.
