Default I decided to try LW out. GOOD! but....

ok, first of all, generally, it's a great FS program! I love how it can filter out bad files... specially in the MP3 section.. i hate those lemon files!!!!!

Ok, with that set aside, here are my rants which i hope you guys have a cure for......

1) Even when disconnected the darn thing contiunes to download and upload.

2) There seems to be no way to pause downloads in limewire?

3) There's no way to MANUALL clear the successfuly downloaded files.. clear inactive also cleared my darn que'd files!!

4) There seems to be no setting for Auto Resume/find sources ever X seconds?

5) Im not sure about this but it seems limewire dwells in the GNU network only.. what about torrents and other networks which is actually supported by shareaza.com

6) When my download is interupted due to disconnection, upon reconnection the darn thing doesnt seem to resume...

I connected last nght with limwire before i went to sleep.. apparently, a few minutes later i got disconnected.. and my pc had to redial.. got a successful connection yes.. limewire i believe reconnected yes.. but the darn downloads didnt resume themselves.. wasted time and internet.

Guys?

1. Not if LW has been quit/closed.

2. LW Beta 4.1.8 has pause on dwnlds & the 4.1.7-8 has pause on both uplds & dwnlds.

3. Depends upon your settings. Tols-Options & Dwnlds.
4. Highly unlikely if ever, b/c p2p apps that flood the network with requeries will inevitably slow down the Gn network And whatever business/school network it passes thru!!!

5. Has been suggested & thought about, but as far as I know it won't happen in the short-term. I also thought this was going to happen sooner but there's tech issues to overcome 1st.
6. Do a manual search for the sources for the item. See: earch & dwnld techniques (some hints)

LW went to sleep. Apparently in the present beta LW has a sleep ability And if running as an Ultrapeer.

Logitech,

On item number 1 do you have Limewire set to "shutdown after transfers"? If so when you close it the program minimizes to the tray but continues to run uploads and downloads. If will not continue to accept incoming requests for new files but will try to complete any uploads or downloads in process when you shutdown.

Go to - TOOLS, OPTIONS, SHUTDOWN and chose the way you want Limewire to shutdown.

the beta versions (4.1.8 currently) now allows you to use the delete key to clear an entry. Very handy!

I agree, but think about this.. tons of other GNutella apps have this functionality.. kazaa lite is one very popular one.. they all have ability to do this.. can ya catch ma drift?

@Norm
Nope. i dont have that setting.. i do know that even when disconencted it continues to transfer files.. atleast now i nkow it's actually a feature.. one that i dont really fancy.. the more reason to haev the PAUSE function on each item.

thanks all

In general I also don't have enthusiastic thoughts about beta apps but I've found the LW 4 betas to be very good. I made a small error about the pause upld. This is present in the jum build for osx only (not the official beta.) Individual pauses would be very good & I thought about inquiring about it myself.
I never use clear inactive button. And prefered to manually delete the completed files but recently set my prefs for auto-clear. You do know how to manually delete them?

Well as far as other p2p apps doing constant requeries, LW did have this function & removed it for the health of the network. Unfortunately there's other apps that simply don't care. Just b/c somebody has a gun & can shoot people down doesn't mean everybody should also have one & do the same. What type of community would that be. They are "aggressive" apps in more ways than just this. I'll leave the others to fill you in about this. The p2p community is developing, but some apps prefer to remain uncivilised & not very communal for 'sharing'.
