Without knowing your LW or OS version, then if things are more stable with LW 1.4.x then stick with that one.

Try upgrading to LimeWire 4.2. We develop LimeWire using the latest version of Java (Java 5, or 1.5 -- both the same) and haven't heard of or seen any problems. In fact, using the latest version of Java generally helps.

As far as LW freezing on start -- try uninstalling & reinstalling it. Also try going to Control Panel and uninstalling Java & going to java.com and reinstalling it.

Default Similar experience

I've just installed Limewire 4.2.3 running in Windows XP Home Ed. My cursor (sometimes but not always) moves slowly and erratically, like carics, as I move my mouse around. I'm using jre 1.5.0. Any ideas please? The good news though, for the first time my scrolling wheel works with Limewire!

You wouldn't be the 1st person to have an issue with Java 1.5. Uninstall it & instead install Java 1.4.2: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp
