LW locking up XP This began happening out of the blue with LW 3.x. I upgraded to 4.2 and this didn't fix things: LW will run fine for 5 minutes or so and then lock-up my taskbar and all programs running, I won't even be able to CTRL-ALT-DEL in order to kill the process. I'm running XP SP2 but it was running just fine on this setup for weeks now and I haven't made any changes that I can think of that would effect LW.. Any ideas/suggestions welcome. |
Problem solved - was the ultrapeering. |
Could someone explain what ultrapeering is because I'm having the exact same problem. Thanks! |
Click Tools -> Options, 'Speed'. Check the box that says, 'Disable Ultrapeer Capabilities." |
That's it? Okay, I'll try it. Thanks! |
This has been driving me NUTS. I have un-installed and re-installed. I've been restarting all day. I'm glad I saw this post. There should be something addressing this during the installation maybe. I'm glad I stuck with it. After I un-installed I tried a couple of other clients but I came back. I sure hope this fixes the problem. J |
Maybe I spoke too soon....i'm still locking up. All my windows keep saying "Not Responding" I disabled the ultrapeer option but it didn't fix the problem. Damn... J |
I finally had to delete LW. To my surprise I still had the problem but when I deleted Jave JRE5...no more problem. Windows XP SP2 E |
Java I've had a problem with JRE5. It's not stable. On another forum I was recommended to uninstall JRE5 and instal J2RE1.4.2. I've had far less problems with my system since doing this. Suggest you give it a try. |
Disabling the ultrapeering seemed to work for a few days but then my computer started freezing up again when I have LW open--and not the kind of freezing where all the programs stop responding and I have to shut the computer down, but the kind where nothing will move and the only thing to do is turn off the power. I already have J2RE1.4.2. I guess I just have to keep LW disconnected any time I need to be using my computer for other things. Bummer. |
