Default ASF Files: How can I play ASF files?

How can I play movie files with the .asf extension? What application do I need to play them? Or do I need to convert them to another format first?
I am running Win98SE and Mandrake Linux 8.0 (dual boot). I also have 128 MBs RAM and 500 Mhz AMD K6-2 processor.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Default asf files

all you need to playback asf files is the newest version of media player. You can download it for free at microsoft.com-i think its version 7.1. Make sure when you install the exe file that you have all the codecs it comes with highlighted.

Thanks! I have Media Player 6.4, and I guess it's retarded or something. It won't let me play them, so I'll get 7.1. Thanks again JoeSlick! :-)
