Default Preview incomplete file with internal player then play completed file with iTunes?

I'd like to use to use the internal Limewire player to play my incompleted files because iTunes stores library data whenever a file is played, and I'd then like to use iTunes to play completed files.

Is this possible, or is it an either/or situation?

Thanks.
