Clear Out The Crap I have just downloaded .******** 450 meg worth...or did I? When I launched it ,what do I get but some pseudo amuteurish Rap movie. This hapens all the time, Ipod selling, porno, amuteur arts projects, I've had them all and I've only been on the site for 4 days! Does Lime have any way of: 1 Filtering out the crap that pose as bona-fide titles without previewing everything before downloading? 2. Ensuring that searches give the client what they want and not what Lime has? Even though this is a p2p site there must be a way of tidying this up. This is a serious issue, i love the concept and the speed but this could kill your site. read the forum rules before posting |
What a nice way of asking for help here. 1 it's called bitzi lookup 2 If you want your movies with no problems, you go to a shop and BUY em. |
Have I broken the rules by asking these questions? I see that the title that I mentioned was blanked out, is that the problem? Surely it's important that LW clients have as accurate idea as possible about what they should and should not download before they click. If it's impossible I guess we will all have to work around it. I understand the problems with p2p but this is a commercial site that will grow faster the better it gets. If it doesn't it will fail like any other commercial operation and I would like it to succeed. Simple as that. ps. what is bitzit? |
Until RaaF returns. You could have a read of a few things such as THIS (click on link) & also THAT or the OTHER! :D Using your Keyword filter helps!!! Do a forum search of Keyword & spam. That will help you heaps! ;) |
Thanks for the tips and links LOR. I've also found that I get much more hits and fewer irrelavent results if I dont use the "type" box when searching. The speed with a good broadband connection is impressive. Keep up the good work! No need for Raaf to reply he's said his piece. per aduam ad astra |
marciano, This independent forum is run by volunteers, and the ad banners cover the costs, there's no direct link with Limewire. So the customer - client relation you are reffering to does not aply here. You didn't buy any guarantee for successful downloads on demand, but : (Quote from Limewire site) "Your purchase of LimeWire PRO allows the Limewire Development Team to continue to improve the software and contribute to the growing Gnutella community." With P2P your downloading from other users like you and me, I offer something and I allow you to download it and viceversa. Sadly as in real life, improper use is beeing made of this system by spammers, sicko's, pranksters, scriptkiddys and last but not least the RIAA to frustrate the use of P2P. If you want to have a look at the quality of a file before you download it, You R-click it in your searchresults screen and choose Bitzi lookup. And, do the community a favour and report back to Bitzi if you downloaded a bogus file. (read on how to on the Bitsy site) P2P is what you make it, not what you payed for it. |
Amen to all that. No offence meant or taken I hope. |
If you're searching for mp3's make a note of their file sizes & the bit-rate & be just a bit wary of those search results from T3 sources. If you see files in your search results that are the same size but a different bit-rate then you know something is wrong. Prefer to trust the results from non T3 sources 1st! See T3 Spammers about this for music. And for movies, those wmv files that are spam advertising tend to come from T1 sources. Just a hint! ;) |
Thanks chaps, this site is coming alive for me because of your tips. |
