Question No search results

Hi,

I did a search for my problem and came up with only http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=32454

I have a similar problem. Just recently I have been unable to get any results at all for any keyword search.

I tried everything suggested for this problem. I deleted my .limewire folder. My sample bug report shows received incoming...=true. I have the latest Java.

I am connected and port 6346 is opened. I even disabled my firewall completely just to be thorough. I reinstalled LW version 4.2.6, and checked out all the preferences.

Still no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks

There's some xtra things to try here: Fixes for Limewire

Try a general search instead of a particular type of search.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version, 2. What firewalls you have, 3. ram, 4. HDD space available, 5. Connection type, 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've tried all of that and then some.

I did some more searching on this forum and in general. I think that Insight is blocking P2P.

Thats not cool.

I'll give them a call and see what they say. I've heard that they are saying that they aren't filtering P2P traffic.

Yes Insight is known for blocking or filtering p2p (lowering speeds.) Search the forum or google for insight. I'd tell them that you're paying for a service & you are aware they are filtering your services. Ask to speak to the person in charge.

I just got off the phone with a tech support guy.

He said as far as he knew there was no filtering at all of any traffic.

He said that they didn't need to filter that kind of thing because it could be traced. He went on to tell me about how my PC would leave a fingerprint on any website or network I visited. ie. my IP address. And cautioned me about using things like that. (I didn't let on that I knew about proxies)

When I pressed him a bit he paused for a long while and said that Insight didn't do any filtering at all. He emphasized Insight didn't. Does someone else own their servers?

Oh well. I guess I'll write somebody in charge a letter for what good that'll do and start looking for another provider if I can't get to the bottom of it.

I know there has to be a way around this, but I bet you can't tell me here. I'm gonna look into it.

I'm having this problem as well, and I'm also an Insight customer in the Cincy area. Tried the above fixes, and nothing. For fun, I took my router out of the equation entirely, and I'm connected directly, but still nothing. Strangely, WinMX seems to still work. I see posts by lots of Insight users with this proble, but are there any (especially in my area) that are NOT having the problem? For once in my life I chose to actually purchase a program I use often, and suddenly I can't use it. It's more than a tad frustrating.

Some of these isp providers that block or filter p2p don't necessarily do it to all p2p apps/users. And in some cases it can almost be random. eg: some people within the same area might even be able to use those same p2p apps. Or use others.

I've left a link or 2 to articles that discuss this issue. Probably if you search insight or filter* or block* then you might find such links as well as other comments.

In fact you can do your own Google search 'Does insight block p2p' & see what you come up with.

This is the 1st I came up with: http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/56054

See the link to the insight forum: [News] Insight Using Sandvine To Control P2P Traff..
