only 50 files being shared
 

I;m a new user of Limewire-I've set up Shared File but when I open Limewire I can only see 50 files being shared and it says that the Connection is "excellent". I have tried moving some music files I have on my computer into the "shared" file so then the number of files shared changes to include any music I've moved over. A friend of mine has basic limewire and is able to "share" a few thousands songs. What am I doing wrong?

Create a separate folder or more you wish to share. Then put the files you want to share into them. Then within LW, go to the LW Library window & menu & select Add Folder to Share... then direct LW to where this folder is you want to share. After adding it you 'might' need to press the Refresh button for it to update the shared no.'s of files.

ONLY 50 FILES
 

Even after I've added files to the ML Library I am still only getting the 50 files plus whatever I've added to the Library. I've pressed Refresh. It is possible the firewire is preventing me from accessing more files. When I downloaded Limewire it did not prompt me letting me know there was a firewire problem that I could have bypassed when I was downloading

Make sure your Shared folder is on the shared folders list. Go to your LW Library window & have a look at the folders to the left. Click on each one to see their contents. Perhaps you haven't got all the ones you want to share listed. It won't be due to a firewall. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image is it Ture/False?

The sample below is for Mac OSX but it's basically the same. The top image is for exploring your shared folder. The bottom image is to add a new folder to share.

I did what you suggested and went into Library and added files. When I look is does say True so that doesn't seem to be the problem either! Whenever I add files to share to the library, the number of files I can access changes to the original number (50) plus whatever number of files I add.

So what's wrong with that. You can share as many as you like!

You need to search for files using LW & select them from the search results to start downlding them. They won't magically appear there by themselves. Perhaps you should view the manual: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/userguide.shtml

Am I missing something here? I think you've missed some of my instructions. If you want to share what's in your folder called Shared (which is where you downld to), then add that to your folders to share. If you want to add more files to share then have a folder of files you wish to share & add it to the sharing folders list. The other way to add folders is to go to your LW menu Tools>Options>Sharing & press the Add button & direct LW to where the folder is you want to share.
