Default Limewire -> iTunes -> iPod -> HOW?

How do I get my Limewire library into iTunes for the purposes of getting the songs on my iPod?

I have to get them in the iTunes special format.

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-TR3A with Soundstage and Win XP.

all the best,

thefoodguy

Unfortunately that's insufficient. I went to File > Add Folder to Library (in iTunes) and they all transitioned to my library.

However, the songs then have to be in a special format to be transferred to the iPod.

No they don't! Not unless they are wma or rm format. If iTunes can import them then they can be added to your iPod. I doubt very much you saw the iPod tutorial that I left a link for. Follow that & you should be fine. If you don't wish to use the auto update (which I hate), use the manual option to add new songs to iPod. Watch the QuickTime movie tutorials & you'll see what I mean.

In your 1st post you mentioned a different portable mp3 player. Not all mp3 players import songs the same way. You need to have a particular softw that helps to transport them across for some mp3 players. Read the manual & you'll see it.

That's just the thing. When you add a folder of files to your library, they are just ADDED. They are not IMPORTED.

Ah you're talking about adding a folder. That's a little different to adding a file using the Add function. When you add a file it is imported directly to iTunes' library. When you import a folder it is not necessarily imported directly to the iTunes library. What you will probably need to do is use the Consolidate function. Go to iTunes menu>Advanced & choose Consolidate.

Then, say I get another 20 songs after I run consolidate. Do I just run it again? (every time I get new songs)

It would be a lot easier if you added them individually. If you add a folder then you'll be adding the some of the same ones unless you move those you added out of the LW Downld folder. Otherwise you can consolidate them. There's more than one technique to add files to iTunes library. May I suggest you experiment with them to find the one that suits you.
