You can try these: Fixes for Limewire & make sure your Java is up to date (1.5.) Did you configure your firewalls to allow LW access?: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Win 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. ram? 4. HDD space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dial up, cable, broadband, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there? |

Hi Guys, I have tried all the fixes suggested and still no joy. In answer to your points; 1)I am using windows XP-Pro (same as my computer at work) 2)I have Norton internet security 2005 and am using their firewall, I have tried disabling this and using windows but still no joy. 3)I currently have 1gig of ram, will be adding another 1gig soon. 4)I have two large hard drives, C has 160gig free space and D has 65gig free, (both are 200gig drives) 5)I am using broadband, with a wireless connection to a computer downstairs. 6) I have a US robotics router/modem, it says "modem model 9106" and U.S.RoboticsSureConnectADSLwirelessGateway" i have also tried the test page, it opens and says "test page was a success" i hope I have answered all you points, if you need to know anything else just let me know. Thanks, matt |

Well you can try forwarding a port for LW. This will mean a bit of work. See http://www.portforward.com/usr/SureC...forwarding.htm & the link to Static IP on 1st line. Steps: 1. Set up a Static IP (must have static ip for PF to work!) 2. Forward a port (open a port) using Port 6346 3. Force IP within LW: Force IP instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that one. As for your Norton I.S. 2005 see: Configuring Norton Internet Security Even though you're not using XP's firewall perhaps you should still configure it anyway just in case: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml As for your wireless it's difficult to suggest anything without the model number. You can check here http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm (bottom far right column.) This of course does not list all models. If your wireless device has a web page (usually the default page is 192.168.1.1 so you'd use this in your browser) then check whether this can be done (PF.) Or check your manual. You would use Port 6346 for one computer but port forwarding for any other computers using LW would require a different port no. eg: 6348/6344, etc. As for Force IP within LW. Well, if your devices have UPnP capabilities, then use UPnP instead. Some devices have a UPnP option either on their browser utility page or a switch. If yours does then this may save any need for any port forwarding. Hope this helps. |
