Unhappy Limewire destroyed my system

Downloaded Limewire 1.6d from the German mirror.
Double clicked the installer and my entire C drive was wiped clean.
I've never seen a hard drives entire contents deleted so quickly and thoroughly. The only thing that still existed was this bloody limewire file and the route to the desktop where it resided.

I AM SERIOUS - DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS FILE

Just to be sure i reinstalled windows (my drive would no longer boot - ALL files deleted) and double clicked the Limewire installer again and again my new installation of windows was removed in its entirity.

Now im sure that Limewire has no intention of wiping harddrives, all i can think is that someone has hacked their servers and put up a bogus app

Thankfully it was only the C drive, only 7GB of data built up over many years - everything gone. Its so crazy that you cant get annoyed about it - its simply disbelief. Backup?? yeah right )

What's your operating system and version? How much RAM do you have? CPU speed?

Angry Another hard drive trashed.....

Posting for a friend who called, being his hard drive was just trashed by ver. 1.6d, downloaded through CNET.

He describes pretty much the same scenario. Just downloaded it tonight. Installed, hard drive thrashed for a bit. Icon's disappeared from screen. Had to reboot and then the msg, not a recognizable system disk.

He's in the process of reinstalling his system now. Something's gone haywire, or somebodies upted a malicious version of the program.

Lime Wire needs to act now.

The version from CNET is neither corrupted nor a malicious hard drive killer. What computer was he trying to run LW on? OS? RAM? CPU Speed?
