excessive memory usage?

i just installed limewire and it seems to be using a lot of memory between 70 and 100Mb. i think it's slowing the whole os down. any thoughts? i'm running it on this:

athlon 64 3000+
abit kv8 pro
1Gb kingston value ram pc3200
maxtor 160Gb ATA133
maxtor 30Gb ATA133
ati 9800 pro 128Mb
via velocity vt6122 PCI ethernet card
windows xp sp2
limewire 4.6.0
java 1.4.2_06 (i think)
zone alarm pro v5.5.062.011
motorola surfboard sb5120 series
cable connection

any info would be appreciated
