LimeWire startup problem Every time I try to start up LW, I get this: http://img148.exs.cx/img148/4292/error6cc.jpg I've seen that other people have been getting this problem, and to fix it they just go back to the previous version of their video drivers. I've got an X800 XT and am now running on the 5.3 Catalyst drivers which were released today. When I first had this problem I was using the 5.2 drivers so I rolled back to 5.1 but this didn't help. The 5.3 drivers don't either, and I even downloaded the 4.8 version on LW which is new aswell, but that didn't fix it. :( What can I do? Whatever graphics card drivers I use I get the same problem. I've also reinstalled Java many, many times, but it still hasn't worked. :( |

Please download LimeWireDebug.exe from http://limewire.org/LimeWireDebug.exe -- place that in C:\Program Files\LimeWire and double-click it to run. What does it say in the DOS box that pops up? |
Nothing :( I just loads up LW and the error appears like normal. Nothing even showed up in the DOS prompt. |
Sberlin sure could have used that that info., but since it isn't working try this. Check out this link. *edit* deleted bad link *edit* That is how he fixed his problem. Fixes for limewire. *edit* deleted bad link *edit step 2 is what he did first. Best of luck, and let us know if it worked. Thank you |
Sorry, but none of those links work...just says 'Error 404'. |
Well that's strange try this one it has the same two links as above. I just checked them and they worked. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34585 |
Driver Error = Intel wireless pro 2200bg Download new driver frm this link (thai): http://reddevil455.tripod.com/p2p_error.htm |
Wuh? |
Greetings softl Nice page, but not everyone can read Thai, but I hadn't thought of that as a potential fix. Thank you for the info, It might be a possibility, if they have that setup and configuration. Suprised you didn't pick a 3 letter or 6 letter user name like Jai or Somjai. Antzstuff You can try the other link I provided or you can try the link in softl post and check out your chipset drivers. Just click on the link that is provided in that page to Intel --- It is in english. Let us know if it fixed the problem. |
I don't get it....what am I supposed to be doing? Updating my Network Card drivers? I don't even know which one I have... Even stranger, this problem only started when I updated LW from 4.4-4.6, and even going back to 4.4 doesn't fix the problem. |
Did you try the steps in the link I posted the 2nd time??? And softl link is for your chipset if it needs updated. You can find this in start>contol panel>systems>hardware>device manager --- That will show you all the hardware installed in your system. You may not have that chipset, but it is a good suggestion, even if the link is on a page written in Thai. |
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! I just figured out what the problem was, it's Java. It doesn't display properly, anything linked with Java on my compuyter doesn't work (whether this is to do with graphics card drivers, I dunno) but I loaded up LW, got the error message, guessed where ''ok'' was, clicked it, guessed where all the other things like language options were, and when I got thru all that, LW worked! :D Thanks for your help m8. |
More importantly, how to fix it: 1.) Load up LW and wait for the error message 2.) Guess where OK is and click it, the message should go away (or there might be more than 1 so keep clicking) 3.) Then keep guessing where the 'Next' button is in language/directory options 4.) LW will load up but it will appear blank 5.) DON'T CLOSE LW, but load it up again 6.) Minimize it so it is not full screen, then drag it off the screen and back on (dunno why it doesn't appear unless you do this) 7.) LW should appear as normal You might have to do that every time you load it up but who cares?! It's working! :) |
Update: I was playing around with Java to see if I could find the cause of the problem, and I crashed to a BSOD. I didn't get a chance to write down the whole file name as my computer restarted, but the problem was caused by a file called ''atidoeg3.dll'' or something like that. I take it this proves that the ATI drivers are the cause of the problem, and that we should contact ATI about it! |
That would be a good thing to do. If you happen to get any more of that error msg. It would be good to post back what it exaclty says. This will help the Developers for LW. Thank you |
ati3d1ag.dll and ati3duag.dll |
I'm pretty sure this is an ATI Driver/Java problem as when I try and open up the Java Management Console, it's just grey, like the LW error message. |
Posting Hi I just joined Gnutella and have had quite the time finding out how to even post. Can someone please tell me the quickest way to post a question. |
