Limewire won't load
 

I am running XP Corp and have loaded LW on my laptop and it's working just fine.

I have installed and uninstalled LW on my desktop (also running XP Corp) because once installed when I double click on the LW icon it won't load. I have updated Java, uninstalled LW 4.8.0 and loaded LW 4.8.1 and I still am unable to execute and run LW.

Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated......

See if deleting LW's Preferences folder helps; instructions: Fixes for Limewire

Use Control-Alt-Del to check how many activities of LW are active. If there's more than one then one version wasn't properly uninstalled.

Okay, I deleted .limewire as directed, restarted and it still would not load. I C/A/D and no other versions are running. I went to the Control Panel to repair, but that option did not come up. What came up was the uninstall wizard which didn't have a repair option. Any other thoughts??

This version LW doesn't have a repair option. Then I'd suggest you re-install Java 1.5 in the link I gave. Then reboot before attempting to re-open LW.

Thanks LOTR..... reinstalling Java seems to have done the trick. Your advice was much appreciated.

was using for over two three hours downloading a bunch of stock images now i go to preview an image and my pc restarts i try to load it and it's a no go limewire won't start anymore i tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and still won't load when i click the shortcut anymore :[ i tried to uninstall reboot then reinstall and also still no go :[ any help would be greatly appreciated

Fixed: LW will not launch
 

I had the splash screen then 'internal error' when launching LW. I removed Java 1.5.0.11 and installed 1.5.0.6 and LW works again!
At first I thought it was Microsoft's update for p2p so I rolled back with restore point - no joy. I closed Avast anti virus, Zone alarm and removed all ATI software, but that was not it. Also tried the delete .limewire suggestion.
Anyone else have this problem?
