Fatal installer error in XP I've installed LimeWire successfully in the past, but when I try to install it now I get an "installer corrupted" - may be virus etc. error. I've searched the forums. If it's there already I apologize but the title may not have been clear. How do I handle this problems? |
Have you run an anti-virus scan. You can d/l and install from the link in this post. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34807 |
Anti-virus scan was negative. I tried the new installer and things got worse! Specifically, I could not install the installer ... and the LimeWire install immediately halted when I clicked on the icon, rather than going through the first few steps. |
1. If you have had an older version of LW on your computer then go to Add/Remove Programs control panel & make sure you've removed any past versions of LW. 2. Update your Java: (take the JRE) 3. Download the LW installer & SAVE it to your computer. Control, ALT, Delete keys & open Process Manager & make sure there's no limewire activity. If there is then kill the process & search your computer & find it & rid of it. 4. Reboot your computer. Delete your LW preferences folder; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire 5. Now install LW. |
it worked! That worked. Thank you! |
