GeForce ForceWare v.71.84 Major Display Issue I have already sent a bug report to Gnutella but I wanted community feedback too. I searched and browsed the forums and found similar issues either still to be resolved or resolved thanks to something I've already tried... Cheers in advance for the help: here is the text of the bug report... Quote:

Only thing I could suggest unless someone comes up with a better suggestion is to downgrade to the previous driver version or wait until the next one comes out. Some people have had graphic driver issues before. Sometimes the answer has been resetting them to default as some people change settings for games etc. |
I will try that, although I'd rather not for compatibility reasons (always better to have the latest drivers). At any rate here are two screenshots of the 2 phases of the problem. |

Hmmm I've seen this also with ATI Radeon series display adapters. Fortunately I have never suffered the catastrophic effects other members have. I had a minor issue with my display adapter(Radeon 300 series), when I run LW and configure the display adapter to run the monitor and tv at the same time. The monitor display becomes sluggish, slow to respond. I disabled the tv function and every thing returned to normal. So for now I just live with it. BTW when running the display adapter in dual mode, it doesn't effect my d/l, u/l, or connection status. Every thing still operates except for the monitor display which is slow to respond/refresh. Just my observations on this comp. EDIT: Running LW pro 4.8.1 JRE 1.5.0_02. Latest ATI drivers from DELL. The latest java update seemed to help some but not completely. Thanks for the Java links LotR |
One other suggestion I have is to see if a different Java version might help. eg: if you're using Java 1.5 then try Java 1.4.2, or vice-versa. Java 1.5 (take the JRE) Java 1.4.2 (click on link) |
I tried installing the 1.4.2 version to no avail - the symptoms remained the same. Therefore I tried the 1.5 version but all I thus obtained was the disappearance of the black screen of hate that used to come up in while LW was booting. The window remains blank and unutilisable... I'm still in need of a solution... Thank you all for your help thus far; don't give up! ;) Alfredo |
Hmmm The only alternatives might be to roll back your display adapter drivers to the previous version. Or possibly check to make sure your chipset drivers are up to date. Does your display adapter have multiple outputs like vga, dvi,tv. If it does you might try disabling all but your monitor to see if that helps. |
Other than swapping your Java versions to see if that makes any difference, you could also try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire Only small chance this'll make any difference but worth a try. Another alternative is to go back to an earlier version of LW to see if that makes any difference: http://www9.limewire.com:82/download/ (not much to choose from) |
