Unhappy Windows crashes after Limwire active for 20 min

When I start Limewire, it works perfectly for about 20 minutes in the backgorund and I am using other programs such as outlook and firefox, suddenly, and without warning, windows restarts. This has happened numerous times. I have read the previous posts about this problem, but none of them really seem to provide an answer.

Below are my specs:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
Limewire 4.8.1
Windows XP
MCAcfee Security Center with Virus Protection and Firewall
RAM: 512M
HARD DISK: 111G FULL (70G FREE)

I have never used Lime Wire before this. After the new version bugged, I dowloaded and tried to use an older version, but I got an error message that read that I needed a different JAVA .

Anybody have any idea about why Limewire would be crashing my computer?

Can I fix this problem?:

If I can't fix this problem, what Java verison do I have to get to download an earlier version of Limwire?

And which older version of Lime Wire should I download?

Thanks for any and all help!

Java 1.4.2 or 1.5 'should' be fine for all versions of LW.

Generally forced restarts are due either directly/indirectly to a hardware issue.

Can you tell us what graphics card brand, model & version drivers you're using?

Re: firewalls; did you configure them to give LW full access?: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml
(That's a side issue.)
