![]() I had LW 2.2 pro and was flawless now after completly uninstalling, it deleteing lw folder in program files, and the .Limewire folder, i installed 4.81 pro and my norton 2005 (which i've always had since using 2.2 pro) keeps asking me to "permit" it says "noron internet worm protection has detected a remote system that is attempting to access on ur computer" its quite annoying to pop up on every startup, every search, and every time someone connects to me. Other computers (w/ norton 2005) that get 4.8.1 installed fresh work fine, but i guess since i had 4.2 b4 its causing some wierd effects. Please help! |

![]() Did you see Configuring Norton Internet Security OK this is for an earlier version but the same principle applies. Else see http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml Back up your security system with other safety measures such as HERE (click on link) Also see Organisations trying to connect via Port 6346 |

![]() hey guys, i have the same problem. my norton internet security 2004 asks me to permit all the time, so i did what was mentioned, ie. deleted the old program and it asked me to permit when i first started limewire again. that was sweet, however it always tells me "high risk: a remote computer is trying to connect" and asks me to block it. what do i do? what or who is trying to connect? it happens even b4 i search or b4 anyone tries to search me? |

![]() Dear Doctor I use Norton NPF and AV 2003, so I believe yours and mine will be similar in usage. First, I suggest that you get PeerGuardian V2 Beta5 and install it. This will keep all sorts of computer, gov, education and Uncle Tom cobbly agencies from accessing your computer via port 6346, see the following: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34038 When you have done this, run your virus scanner (which must be up to date) to insure that you have no Trojans or viruses on your PC. I would also run my anti-spyware apps as well, i.e. Spybot, Ad-Aware and MS Anti-Spyware. When you are sure that your PC is clean, read the Norton message, which indicate the type of connection, e.g. someone using the port associated with Back Orafice, etc. Now, if it is a connection that is commonly associated with worms and viruses then block it. If not then let it through, as long as you have a rule that lets LW (and any computer) to connect to and from the internet. As a rule, I always run my virus scanner after a marathon session on LW Pro, I have my MS Anti-Spyware set to run at 2.00am everyday and I run Ad-Aware SE every morning. In addition, whenever I use LW Pro I also use PeerGuardian 2; along with Prevx V2.0 and my other protection apps, which I religiously keep up to date, my PC is pretty safe.
