![]() I'm getting some kind of message that pops up on my computer every once in awhile, like every 10 or 15 minutes i guess, thats titled "Scan and Remove". Then it says type- application, name- LimeWire, scope- All Users, and gives the path- C:/program files/limewire/limewire.exe. When i scan it, it says that no viruses or infections are found, and when I tried once to remove it, it didnt remove it and the message continued to show up. My other option it gives me is "Remove completely (no undo)", but b/c its an .exe file, I dont want to remove it and have LimeWire stop working on me. Is there something I can do to get rid of this box? Am I supposed to remove this application? |

![]() Be very wary of spykillers. Many on the market don't do their job properly & some even have spyware themselves. A spyware forum showed that there's only a couple of such programs that do a proper job of correct detection & removal. LW does not have spy or adware. Using a poorly designed program like that could do your computer system a lot of damage. We'd recommend these: ad-ware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ (FREE) Spybot - Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html (FREE) Peerguardian: http://peerguardian.methlabs.org/pg2.html (FREE) |

![]() I have SpyBot and McAfee only, and neither of these are turning up any viruses. I do have a "proxyconn accelerator", but I've had that for months and its never caused any problems with any other programs, and that is not involved with finding spyware, so I doubt that is the problem. I just installed LW yesterday, and the message showed up right after I ran a scan thru the computer to check for viruses. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this message? thanx so much for your help!! |

![]() Did you get your LW from here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml if not then you might have a scam version. We've heard of people who've bought scam versions that have been infested. I'd sugget you uninstall what you have & re-install it from the above site. |

![]() That is where I went to install it, and i clicked on the "get basic" which brought me to another page, then the windows, which brought me to www.downloads.com, was it supposed to do that? I might just try uninstalling it then reinstalling it anyway, just in case, but LW itself is working fine. |

![]() No, i havent figured out what it was yet. The other users on my computer that dont use LW (being my parents and brother) dont seem to get this message, just me, and it doesnt really bother me, but if its going to do something to my computer or to LimeWire, then I want to get rid of it, but currently LW is working fine. thanx again for your help! |
