Default Can't Connect to internet while Limewire is Running

I have a Gateway 700 XL connected through an LAN, running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Limewire 4.8.1.When I start Limewire the program is able to connect fine and download the files great but if I try to get on the internet (IE 6) I cannot get onto any website at all. (this is being typed on a laptop while the computer with the problem is in for repair due to a power failure.) It says Page Cannot Be Displayed, DNS Error. If I start up Limewire and then close it out completely I still cannot get on the internet, if I completely restart the computer without opening Limewire, I can surf the web fine. Our ISP is Comcast and the laptop we have now is hooked up through the same internet as the other computer and this laptop is able to connect to the internet while Limewire is running. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You need to make some bandwidth available for your browser. Go to Tools>Options>Uploads>Basic & reduce the upld to you have at least 1 or 2 KB/s free. And likewise go to Tools>Options>Downlds & free up 1 or 2 KB/s. If this isn't enough then free up more. If you find you don't have enough control then choose another connection type like Cable or Modem under Tools>Options>Speed. And press the Apply button after each & every change.

Your bandwidth is quite mighty bp Max. But for me I have to limit my upld for LW otherwise I also can't browse. And sometimes I need to pause downlds since I'm at the bottom end of broadband speeds.
