Exclamation Mayday Solved!

GOT it! The way I fixed it was to download the virus protection from AVG.com. It's totally free, and appears to have gotten it all. Ctl-Alt-Del now brings up the task manager. I haven't reinstalled LW yet, I'm still a little gun shy...

Unhappy help no taskmgr.exe file

3) Now we need to fool the virus into allowing us to open the Task Manager. This can be done by copying the Task Manager executable file from the Windows directory. To do this, go to c:\windows\system32, select the file taskmgr.exe, right click on it, and select Copy. Go to the desktop, and click on an empty part of the desktop. Then right click on the desktop, and select Paste.

Help please I am following your instructions to correct my problem with limewire but I went to c:\windows\ but there is no system32 folder I have check them all and I can't find it please help!!!

Go to the Tools menu in Explorer, then Folder Options, then select the View tab
and set it to show hidden files and to NOT hide protected operating system files.

If LW pops up all the time, it's usually because of a worm. Try the fix here, it's worked for a lot of people.

Files turning into zip files is also usually due to a worm (different worm to the one that causes the popping up thing). People have found that AVG free AV has been able to fix this problem for them. Download AVG free. Update it & scan your computer. See if it finds a worm (Delf.ATB)
