Computer Crash

For a while now, every time that I've tried to download numerous files, it will eventually freeze my entire computer and I'll have to do a hard shut down. I've upgraded to the latest Java version but it did not help (in fact things seem to have gotten worse, today it crashed with only one download).

Any help or links to point me in the right direction?

Windows XP SP2
P4 2ghz
528mb DDR

NVIDIA Ge Force FX 5200 64mb

I'm connected to a Linksys Wireless router with a D-Link Airbus adapter.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Checked my event log. It seems that it gives me a warning of too many TCP/IP connections right before it crashes. Researched it and SP2 imposed a maximum of 10 "failed" TCP/IP attempting connections at a time. I researched the message and found a crack that upped my cap to 50, and so far no more crashes.

Update: crashed again. This time with warning on the Event Viewer
