Try redownlding Java (but save it to your comp, don't install it over the net!) & then re-install it. You can also try the other version of Java (1.4.2 or 1.5)
Did you try deleting the LW preferences whilst LW was closed or changing the compatibility to win 2k? Fixes for Limewire

Still having issues as described above... should Java 5.0 and all updates be deleted?

I'm having a similar problem to the one above. When I click to load Limewire Pro 4.8, the normal box comes up but instead of the loading bar it goes white straight away and then when the usual search engine would fully load up, it stays white. I've had this problem before when I had the 5.4 ATI drivers installed but once I updated them to 5.5 a few days later the problem was fixed. I recently installed the 5.7 ATI drivers and updated and installed Java. Could this be the problem again? or is there something else that might have caused this?

Jim159 you might have a corrupt installation. It might be an idea to reinstall the ATI drivers again.

coprhed your problem might also be your graphic drivers or possibly a virus.

Vijay try these things: 1. Whilst LW is closed, delete the LW preferences folder. 2. Change compatibility mode to win 2k; see Fixes for Limewire

superman92805: The question about whether Java 1.5 should be deleted, well if you want to revert back to 1.4.2 or re-install 1.5 then yes you can uninstall it using the add/remove programs control panel. But downld java to your comp., don't install over the net.

Question LIMEWIRE WON'T START(and never did right from installation)

limewire used to work, but i got the computer formatted and now it doesn't work. i've tried everything u've told me but nothing seems to work.

OK i've gotten all the different Javas they don't work....
when i try to start limewire it says "unable to load Java Realtime Enviroment" even tho i just got a new one 10 min earlier

i've tried everything u told everyone else, the only thing that i couldn't find was the preference folder... i searched for it i manually went looking for it....its just not there

I had the same problem...Limewire came up as a white box...currently running an ATI 9700 with Catalyst 5.4.

Opened the Catalyst Control Centre, clicked on Preference tab, then clicked Restore Factory Settings (i had changed the performance settings).

Boom Limewire came up no problem.

Hope this helps
