Not able to contact

Have signed up with Limewire PRO & paid the fee. Unable to get any support as the interface doesn't recognise any of my email addresses as a valid user and guess what, you guys haven't made any provision for someone to email support without entering a valid email address on your database!!!
Could you please provide an email address where you can be contacted in regards to the fact it would appear I don't exist as a registered user. Thanks.

Righteous Anger Newbie

SRD

Before you vent your "righteous" anger in this forum, where exactly did you purchase your LW Pro from?

Was it the official site:

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

Or was it somewhere else, like a scam site.

UK Bob

PS. I'm a registered user and have been using LWPro for over a year now.

SRD July 25th, 2005 08:20 PM

Thanks Bob,

After investigation it would appear allcoolmusic.com or mymusicnow.com are the scammers. I don't understand why Limewire wouldn't post this info on their site if it is known to occur and then we would all know better.

The above site takes you to www9.limewire.com to download the program and you then just use the program and that is why I was under the impression it was Limewire I had signed up to. Does this make me a registered user of the program then or not?

Thanks for your time.

Sorry, No.

Dear SRD

You asked:

The answer is no, chances are that all you got was LW Basic, which is "free" and your money went to swell the coffers of the scammers.

I suggest that you contact payment provider, bank or CC company, and try to get your money back that way. I would also strongly suggest that you change your payment details, many victims have said that the scammers continued to take money by billing for non-existent products or a fictitious monthly subscription.

Well, this info has been posted in this forum time and time again, it is just that as the forum gets bigger the info becomes harder to find. However, you should always check the stickies, they are a wealth of information about this and other LW related problems.

Finally, delete the LW you have got and download the proper one from the official site (URL in my previous post). Because the one you have may be stuffed full of spyware or some other harmful crap.

unable to contact!!

I have the same problem...no one to contact. The system is not recognizing my email address and because that is the case I am not able to talk to anyone either. I paid for Limewire for life (which was the highest priced option). My next step, if I don't hear from them, is to contact my credit card company and notify them. They can give me a phone number or I can file a report against them for charging me for a product and not offering that product.

gbildson August 13th, 2005 07:58 AM

You were scammed because LimeWire does not have a "lifetime" option.

ukbobboy01 August 13th, 2005 11:01 AM

How many times?

Apwiechman

How many times have we got to tell you newbies that LW Basic is free and LW Pro cost $18.88, for that you get 6 months worth of updates/upgrades, and they are available from here:

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

But you guys keep coming back here, time after time, when you've been conned by a scam site that has sold you a non-existent membership for 1 year, 2 years, lifetime or whatever. When are you guys ever going to do a simple check before trying to join something that does not exist?

Don't wait, contact you credit card company now because you have bought and paid for NOTHING. Then change you credit card details because, chances are, you will find yourself paying a monthly subscription for membership of the non-existent club you've joined.

Thanks for your time.

The many many many legions of the scammed, as we affectionately refer to them as, tend to come here after the event. It seems to be the case that you have paid your money, before you know what you are getting.

If someone comes to the limewire.com site to discover that Limewire Basic is free, they are hardly gong to go off to imgannaripyouof.com to pay for it.

If I need or want an application I am cheap. I look around for a free one. I might get a shareware one, I can dump it tomorrow ... no charge. I might see something that costs $50.00 I will look around and see if I can get the same thing cheaper or for nothing.

Not in my craziest moment would I sign up for life membership of Microsoft, Apple or the British government, and as for signing up for something off an obviously dodgy web site ... I have looked at a few of them ... Come on ...why are you all doing it>>>>>

I am leaving this crazy forum. I'm going to learn how to build a web site and I'm going to scam as many people as I can. You have all proved how easy it is.. I'm gonna make a fortune HE HE HE!!! :)

Easier way to make a living

Hobo

I am definitely with you on this one, why should we have to go out to work every day, pay taxes and bills when they are thousands of potential scammees lining up to give away their money.

:)I like the name of "I'mGonnaRipYouOff.com" where the charge is £50.00 (that's about $80.00US) for life membership to a non-existent club and that will entitle members to a free URL link to LW Basic.:)

:pMoney for old rope (well, there is no rope involved).:p

PS. Although the above is a bit of fun, all to often newbies first experience of the internet is dealing with con merchants.
