Computer freeze-up

My upgrade from 4.8 to 4.9 Limewire completely freezes my comp when the program starts to load.
Unistalled and reinstalled 4.9 twice - same results.
Pentium4 - 2.4 gig
windows 98 2nd edition
lots of space
4.8 was working great
