PC keeps freezing up

I have had limewire on two computers,the otherday I downloaded some songs and the next day as soon as I opened limewire my pc froze.This is going on on both computers and i have searched all of the repair threads on this board and nothing helps.As soon as I uninstall LW my pc works fine,i reinstall LW and then I get the same problems.Any sugestions???

CPU P4 3.0 GHz/AMD 64 3200+Ghz
Memory 256MB/512MB
Connection Dial-up/DSL
LimeWire Version 4.8.1/4.9.11
Java Version 1.4.2/1.5.4
What firewall you use if any
What Antivirus if any
Are you new to LimeWire or Experienced

sorry about that here are the specs in the above order.

windows xp
p4 2.8ghz
512 mb memory
100 gb hard drive
cable connection
had version 4.8 and problem started uninstalled and downloaded 4.9
java was just updated to 1.5.4
windows firewall(but was disabled)
norton anti virus.
have used limewire for 2 years mabe more or a little less.
When limewire is installed as soon as i get on the computer it starts freezing for a few seconds at a time(mabe 10 or 20) with limewire closed and no file transfers in progress.Thjis will go on until I log off of either of the computers.If I open LW the comp will freeze for say 40 -60 seconds at a time for about 5 minutes then if I am lucky it will go to about 10-15 seconds,if im not luck the computer will freeze up completly.As I said before this just started happening the other day and on two of my computers at the same time and with no changes to either computer.I have tried everything that I can possibly think off to fix this problem but nothing has worked.let me know if any thing else will help someone to help me figure out what the heck is the prob.thanx

Could you look and see if you had any windows updates around the time it started acting up.

No sir,the last one was installed on july the 13th about 2-3 weeks after is when I started having the problems.

Have you tried going back to a earlier version of Java. I download Java 1.5.4 today and ended up having to manually insall it.

I actually had the earlier version of jave but then I updated to the newer version hoping to solve my problems.But it didnt.I have also tried the other suggestions listed in the link that you earlier posted.

How many computers are running on the network or thru the router? How many of those run LW or another p2p sharing program at the same time? How many of those are having problems?\
Can you tell us: Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
