Default LimeWire won't run.

Ok so I downloaded, installed, ran the program, downloaded a few files, but then my computer hardlocked for one reason or another, ever since LimeWire won't load. I double click the icon, nothing. I run the program directly from it's folder, nothing. I uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, nothing...i repeated that process a few times trying different things like removing it totally from the registry, nothing. Tried installing the newer-version beta, nothing.

Then I read some other guy's thread with the same kind of problem, to which a Mod had responded a few things to try. Changed my operation mode or whatever to Windows 2000. Didn't work. Reinstalled newest version of Java JSE or whatever it said, didn't work.

Why in the heck won't it load anymore when it worked originally??

I'm running a P4 3.0gig, 1 gig of 400mhz RAM, Windows XP 2nd Edition. I can't figure this one out!!

* Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Did you do a registry clean? Unless that's what you meant.

You might also try Java 1.4.2 instead (uninstall Java 1.5), get link from above.

Yeah,

My computer crashed at some point while I was trying to start limewire and I can't get it to work anymore. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest version but no matter what I do it won't work. I click on the program icon and nothing happens at all. Sometimes a windows hourglass will popup for a second but that's it.

I've already deleted the .limewire preference folder. Is the registry corrupted? Anybody have any ideas on a fix?
