Lime Wire will not load.

Hi all, I have been using Lime Wire for a long time. I think when I upgraded to a new Java runtime, is when my problem occured. When I tried to launch LimeWire, the little window pops up in the middle of the screen (as normal). I can walk away for hours and the screen still loads displaying, "Loading User Interface". I have uninstalled Java and Limewire. The issue first occured with version 4.8, I have tried reinstalling 4.8 and also tried 4.9. I also deleted every entry for LimeWire in the registry, which should have done the trick.

What can I do next?

Hi,

I think I have the same problem. Since the first time I used LimeWire, I had an extremely long load time (around 10 minutes). I've installed the latest versions of LimeWire and Java and still no change. I am running LimeWire on a Windows 98 system if that matters.

I am using XP. There must be a registry hive (not labeled LimeWire) that I missed.

Mods please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uninstall, remove your Java. This can be done in XP from start>control panel>add or remove programs --- find your java and remove.

Uninstall LimeWire this can be done in XP from start>all programs>limewire>uninstall

Then download the older version of java from the link in this post. http://forums.gnutelliums.com/showth...threadid=36420

Just follow the instructions in that post.

Then Download and reinstall LimeWire from this link. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

For some reason some systems seem to work with the older java version and not the newer updated version. Don't ask me why I have no idea.

Recently Mac users had a similar problem ... Conspiracy theories abounded, but in fact Apple were quick to acknowledge that there was a problem with their latest security/java update and corrected it. MS are possibly receiving similar complaints. Fabion's solution is similar to the Mac one and his final paragraph applied equally to the Mac problem.
