Help With Limewire Not Loading 1 Attachment(s) Howdy, I've had limewire up and running before on the box, but when I tried to run it today, I got the old Java console not loaded message. So I tried to download Java environment and got the message in the pic attatched so when I checked to see if requested file was there, it wasn't so I did a system restore to a while back and all the java console etc. was there, but when I try and fire up limewire it just sits there stupid and won't load.......not sure what's up with that, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result  Any help given would be appreciated. Running WinXP Home Cheers, Max |
run a virus scan. nothing from within limewire runs temporary internet files. some great, free virus scanners: AVG: free.grisoft.com AVAST: www.avast.com a great, free adware and spyware scanner: Ad-Aware: www.lavasoft.com i would also recommend clearing your temporary internet files cache. i don't use Internet Explorer, so i cant remember. and im not opening it up just to figure it out :p a great, free browser all intelligent (atleast computer savvy) people recommend: Firefox: www.getfirefox.com  |
'If' you're meaning you tried to re-install Java, that's not an uncommon problem (I've seen that listed at the Java installation common errors page & a java forum & elsewhere.) The best idea is to downld the java installer to your computer & then install it. If that was not your problem, then perhaps you should re-install Java. Even if that means uninstalling the Java you have using the Add/Remove progs Control panel. It's "much" safer to install from your comp than over the net!!! |
Thanks for the tips. I tried to run my norton corporate and the scan engine wouldn't run so I uninstalled, downloaded AVG, installed, updated and ran a scan and nothing........ I've also got Adaware and ran it, found some crap, but nothing that's stopping Limewire from firing up. Also use spybot and spyware blaster which are both up to date. I'll try downloading the Java console again, but at least now after the system restore I did I'm not getting the Java error popping up when I try to fire up limewire. Now it just sits there like doesn't know what to do. I've never used firefox for a browser, but have heard many good things about it. Is there any real difference? Does Outlook and all other programs work just as well as with IE? I would switch if all things run just as well. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Cheers, Max |
