invisible, nonexistent firewall

I just experienced this problem as of today. I used to get fast downloads... (for me at least) at arround 100 kb a second.
I also was sick of Microsoft's lousy firewall and service pack so I went to their sight and got the instructions on how to remove all that. It all worked well. So up to now I have installed NO firewall on my computer yet. Also the dowload bar for Limewire always shows turbo download speed.

Now, all of a sudden, I closed down the comp today to simply reboot and when I start Limewire that was working great 5 min before it now indicates that my download speed is at connection speed and Limewire indicates it is working behind a firewall... my downloads are now 1 kb a second
What in the world went wrong??!!
Could someone please help me soon, it would really help, thank you.
