Default NetSpyProtector sees Limewire as Pest

Hey there,..I purchased and downloaded LimeWire today and with it I unwillingly bought NetSpyProtector (missed that sneaky tick in the box off to the right of the screen and whaalaaa,..I bought it also grrr)

Anyway,..my stupidity for not being on guard for things they sneak into your purchase. Live and learn.

Since I cannot seem to contact LimeWire regarding this to get them to recredit my CC, I decided to do myself a favour and not get bogged down trying to get a refund, but instead use the program.

Since I bought it at the same time as LimeWire you can imagine my surprise when it picked up 2 occurances of LimeWire as a PEST.

So, please enlighten me. If you could explain to me in deeper terms than "NetSpyProtector is broken", I'd appreciate it very much. I can speak and understand computer talk.

Many thanks in advance.

Salut Remy, next time search the forum. You should post those 2 occurances for us to have a good laught.

I can tell you for sure that many broken anti-spyware tools see the magnet protocol as Groskter spyware. A magnet is a Gnutella link to download a file. When the magnet header is called from your browser for exemple, the default Gnutella app launches to download the file.

If you downloaded LW from limewire.com, fear not all versions are clean. Just try real anti spyware apps as spybot, adaware and microsoft anti-spyware beta.

Ciao

Thankyou et voilà.

I did do a search before posting but was not able to find the information about NetSpyProtector.

I have spybot, adaware and microsoft anti-spyware beta, and normally only ever use these. However since my unwanted 'tacked on' purchase of NetSpyProtector, I thought I should get something for the money I didn't want to spend *sigh*.

Thanks again. I appreciate your help.

Remyy
