Another possibility is the fan may have gone out or be bad in the power supply. I did have one machine that had a bad stick of memory and would overheat. It irritated me it was brand new and it took me a while to figure it out. But you are right it did give a system beep before it would shutdown and my computer would slow down, that is why I ask earlier if the computer was slowing down. But I bid not get a BSD and it was on a MSI motherboard A8V deluxe I believe but don't know for sure.

well d00d, hate to say it, but have you thought of trying another reputable Gnutella client like BearShare Lite?

go here to try it out: http://www.bearshare.com/lite/

Hi Grandpa

I have talked to a couple of Computer Technitions I know, They said the Ram could overheat, If It was set to the wrong Voltage in the Bios, the've never come across it overheating for being faulty (I Bought them a beer for this?, Knew That already)

I had them look at the specs for this computer

They said they could see nothing wrong with it
Everything seems to be within the normal ranges it should be

They said it could be the hardware drivers conflicting with each other The Abbit K7s were really bad for it, The drivers had to be installed in a Certain order or you Got all sorts of problems Ie BSD or the computer restarting itself for no apparent reason

Another Possiblity was that a program on the computer had not shut itself down properly and was conflicting with another one trying to use the same part of the memory, so the computer shuts itself down for protection

Hi Grandpa

Just a quick post while she's next door

I Don't Know If this could have something to do with it, but here it is anyway, might help somebody.

http://www.blackviper.com/AskBV/tech10.htm

Also The only other thing I think it could be (just thought of it) was when One person brought A computer in that was restarting when surfing the net, It was Because he had updated his modem Drivers and windows Didn't like it. Ater I re-installed the old modem drivers the computer was fine

Hi ante1

Just curious about one thing I saw in your computer specs.

Not sure about this but are all your video display and chipset drivers current.

I noticed you are running an older version of display adapter drivers for your ATI Radeon display adapter. I noticed this in one of your task manager pictures. It may also have something to do with your chipset drivers if they are the incorrect ones. It is possible they may be the incorrect ones or they may be conflicting with others drivers in your computer that may not be up to date.

I would suggest making sure all your drivers in the computer are current and up to date.

Does your computer run okay when LimeWire is not in use/running?

Thanks for the info Sgt now I know why I had a bad stick. Seeing how I like to overclock things. That is why I have switched from Kingston to Corsair it takes the juice better. The way I am set up right now I am out benching a 3.3Ghz Intel P4
. But if I want to do any more I am going to have to go to watter cooling. Can't make up my mind go FX 55 or water.

Did the tecks you talked to say whether it was common for a computer to shut down from a software issue without the BSD appearing. I may be wrong here but I thought it would always show up with software issues.

Hi Grandpa

Your like me always trying to push them just that wee bit further

Broke a few computers myself trying it, usually frying The cpu

BSD have even been known to happen with computer
components

One of them told me, he had it happen with a video card in the early nineties, but could only remember it had french sounding makers name.

I have had it happen with one as well, after installing windows when it detected the card, it would throw that annony blue screen up, till I had Install windows with another card, then change them back again, which it accepted, these were Nvidia Ones. I have also had it happen with dodgy cpus
