Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Butters86 Try downloading LimeWire to your hard drive do not install it over the net. When the download screen appears click on save and save it to my documents or where ever you want. Then do the same with Java. Then manually install them by clicking on them and follow the instructions. Install Java first. Make sure you uninstall your existing Java and Limewire first. There is a link to java in the first thread choose which ever version you want. The second link is to the official LW site. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |

I tried deleting Limewire and Java then reinstalling them again. Same thing occurs. I kept Task Manager open while I attempted to run the program. Limewire never took up more than 50mb of memory before and up to the crash. After the crash the blue screen of death eventually did appear. The error message was: KERNAL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR. With technical details reading: *** STOP: 0x00000077 (0xC00000B5, 0xC00000B5, 0x00000000, 0x02131000) |

My problem seems to be resolved. I doubt this could be of any help to anyone but I'll tell you how it happened anyways. I realized that I HAD made one change to my computer around the time when Limewire started crashing everything. I installed the game Baldur's Gate 2. I decided to delete the game from my computer in the pathetic hope that it would somehow miraculously solve my problem with Limewire. It did. Don't ask me how. Perhaps the geekyness of Baldur's Gate 2 conflicted with the coolness of the indie rock songs I was downloading with Limewire. More likely the computer gods chose to have mercy on me. Whatever the case, maybe somehow this story could prove useful in figuring out this problem. Limewire works again for me. There was a little slowness at the beginning which scared me but since then, no problems. Good luck to anyone dealing with this problem. And no Baldur's Gate 2 for you. |

I have the same problem, if I start up limewire, I have to leave it totally alone or my computer freezes up. So if I try to read my e-mail, preview a file, or play a game, my comp instantly freezes. However, I'm curious as to whats causing it, since my comp seems to randomly freeze up every few hours whether or not I'm using limewire. Its only the extreme reproducability of limewire that led me to these forums. I'm planning to reformat very soon, but hearing that reinstalling windows didn't fix the problem for many is very discouraging. pentium 4 3.0ghz w/ radeon 9800 pro running Windows XP Pro w/ service pack 2 This has been happening for a couple months now. The only thing I changed was my mouse, and I have tried uninstalling and reverting back to an old mouse and it will still freeze consistantly. |

Actually, I bought mine...from a microsoft employee for 35 bucks when it was brand new . I've also run a memory test and it comes up clean. Could it be just a coincidence that it freezes 100x more often when I run limewire? Either way, doesn't look like I can do much other than reformat. |

LimeWire is a fairly memory intinsive program and like most java programs requires quite a bit of resorces to opperate if there is a weak link in your OS it will probally show up when running LW. If it were me I would reformat but I reformat about every 4 months anyway. It keeps my machine at top preformance. I do allot of benhmark testing and you would be suprised how much your preformance drops with time. |

Limewire doesn't work again. Oh well. I guess it was too good to be true that it would just simply start working again out of the blue (like it simply stopped working out of the blue). My computer never crashes for any other reason except for running Limewire. I do not experience any random crashes as others in this thread have reported. My version of Windows is completely ligit. I've tried running Limewire with nothing else running and it still fails. I've tried running it Windows 2000 compatible, no dice. I've tried deleting my .limewire folder, doesn't change squat. I have experienced a new error message since my last post though: The instruction at "0x0103419b" referenced memory at "0x0103419b". The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "0x00000b5". After which it asks to either terminate the program or debug. If you don't terminate after a few minutes, the blue screen of death appears. If you terminate the following message comes up: c:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe terminated unexpectedly with status code - 1073741818. The system will now shut-down. After which it performs a normal restart. Again any help would be greatly appreciated. I find the prospect of reformatting a little hard to swallow since a)it didn't seem to work for others, b)my problem only manifests itself with Limewire and c)my PC is under 2 months old. |
