Cheers Grandpa

I didn't think of No.3

I always forget that some LW users are not as honest as we are

it is a good version of windows. It came with the computer.

It has nothing to do with the cable modem because it does the same thing to my computer when used at my school's wireless net.

I wonder does it have anything to do with firewalls or anything? It seems to restart when trying to connect. When I stop limewire from connecting, it doesn't reboot the computer. When it tries to connect, it gives a quick blue screen and then restarts my computer. I also have the windows firewall disabled.

I'm running through a netgear router and I set up port forwarding for limewire but still no luck.

Bearshare works. Limewire or Frostwire will not.

Well it is most likely that it is you modem/modems if LimeWire will work with one and not the others that by itself should tell you that the modem/modems are very likely the problem. So first I would update my drivers and do a goggle search to see if others are having similar problems. Then if that doesn't work I would start looking at other possibilities.

This is the same original problem I have. I even had my computer taken back to Best Buy, they replaced my motherboard and memory - everything (CoH, CoV, WoW all high end games) runs great EXCEPT Limewire - it restarts.

Thanks to your post I figured out my issue. I orignally thought the issue started when LW had the update, but at the same time I converted to a wireless network. The internet worked fine on everything else even high end online games so I didn't even think about it.

But I connected directly to the internet and LW worked fine, so I went online and tried several different wireless drivers, and found one that worked.

Thanks for all the help

yeah i found out the problem is caused by the type of encryption on the networks and the intel wireless driver I had

I updated to the newest one and it fixed everything.
